Laoban Gets 1st Winner And Tops Another Sale

Laoban had his first winner on Friday, July 3rd. 1st-time 2YO starter AVA’S GRACE, won 5F maiden special weight at Ellis Park over 7 rival fillies. Foaled May 15, 2018, she was the youngest starter in the race. Finishing behind her were daughters of Tonalist (2020 top-5 2nd crop sire) placing 2nd, and Runhappy (favored at 3-to-2, placed 3rd), and Uncle Mo. Winning time was 59.38.

Ava’s Grace is a Ky homebred owned by Southern Equine Stable LLC, which bought her dam as a 2006 Keeneland Sept. yearling. She is her unplaced dam’s 6th named offspring, 5th to race, and 5th winner – but her dam’s only 2yo debut winner. It’s a routing pedigree with dam’s grandsires being Cox’s Ridge and A.P. Indy. – From Rab Hagin

Two weeks later, a son of Laoban tops all New York Sired New York Breds at the OBS July Sale bringing $255,000 from bloodstock agent Steve Young, from Jesse Hoppel’s Coastal Equine consignment.
