Laoban’s G2 winning Keepmeinmind to stand at Sequel New York

12/9/22 Press Release: MORE INFO

KEEPMEINMIND, winner of the Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2) and Multiple G1P son of Laoban, will stand at Sequel New York for 2023 at a fee of $6,500.

In just his second start, KEEPMEINMIND finished 2nd to Eclipse Award Winning, Essential Quality, in the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1). This outstanding performance sparked his birth into the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (G1) where he finished 3rd to Essential Quality and MGSW Hot Rod Charlie beating out the likes of Eclipse Award Winning and MG1W, Jackie’s Warrior. KEEPMEINMIND finished out his two-year-old campaign with a win just three weeks later in the Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2) to break his maiden at Churchill Downs.

At three, KEEPMEINMIND ran exclusively in graded stakes company on seven occasions while on the Derby trail. At the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) he would finish 6th after breaking awkwardly and making up ground from eight wide down the stretch, beating G1W Known Agenda and G1W Rock Your World to the wire. His next start would be the Preakness Stakes (G1), where he finished 4th after another ill-fated start. His three-year-old year was highlighted by an extraordinary effort in the Jim Dandy S. (G2), where he was bested narrowly by just half a length to apparent rival, Essential Quality. Four weeks later, he ran in the Runhappy Travers Stakes (G1) where he would place 4th to winner, Essential Quality.

At four, KEEPMEINMIND made himself at home in the Empire State where he again ran against the best, competing in the Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1), won by MGSW Olympiad. His last start would be the Woodward Stakes (G1), where he placed 3rd to MG1W Life is Good and G2W Law Professor.

KEEPMEINMIND is placed in three G1 races and between two and four years of age, beaten only by Essential Quality, Hot Rod Charlie, and Life is Good. In his career he bested several outstanding horses including Jackie’s Warrior, Known Agenda, and Rock Your World.

“KEEPMEINMIND is a specimen with a terrific disposition. He competed with and beat the best of the best. A big boost for the New York breeding roster,” trainer Todd Pletcher.

An earner of over $900,000 in his career, KEEPMEINMIND will stand at Sequel New York where he will carry on the Laoban legacy, and the proven Uncle Mo line.
