Sequel Stallions Releases 2023 Roster

Sequel Stallions New York will hold its 2023 Stallion Open House Jan. 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET at the Stallion Barn located at 167 Maple Lane, Hudson, NY 12534.

The 2023 Roster is led by New York’s most popular sire by number of mares bred in 2021 and 2022, the state’s only son of four-time leading sire Into Mischief  Honest Mischief  , who will stand for $6,500 LFSN. The royally bred, precocious bay is New York’s leading sales sire of weanlings in 2022 and will continue to be backed by a syndicate led by Sequel, with global powerhouse Juddmonte Farm in support.

New for 2023 is Laoban ‘s best son, Keepmeinmind, a grade 2 stakes-winning 2-year-old and multiple grade 1-placed earner of $903,237. The freshman retires with the full support of the ownership group having already committed 25 top mares to him, including Better Not Cry (the daughter of $14 million mare Better Than Honour) and grade 1 winner Diplomat Lady . Victor of the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2), 12 of Keepmeinmind’s 14 starts were in graded stakes company. He ran with the best of his generation, placing in the Breeder’s Futurity (G1), Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), Woodward Stakes (G1), Jim Dandy Stakes (G2), and Ohio Derby (G3). Keepmeinmind will also stand for $6,500 LFSN.

Standing privately in 2023 are Freud —”The King of New York”—and Mission Impazible . Freud is New York’s leading sire by lifetime earnings and lifetime number of black-type winners and is the versatile full brother to Giant’s Causeway. He has lifetime progeny earnings of over $70 million. Unbridled’s Song grade-1 performing millionaire Mission Impazible has garnered progeny earnings of over $12 million with 43% winners.
