Carlos grew up on a small quarter horse farm in Ocala, Florida. His experience with thoroughbreds began after his first year of college when he interned with Sequel at our Florida training facility. The following year Carlos interned at Sequel New York where he was able to continue his growth as a horseman working with our stallions, mares and foals. Carlos earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and obtained his law degree from Stetson University College of Law. As an attorney, Carlos’ work was focused in civil litigation in all levels of State and Federal Court. Carlos returned to Sequel in 2020 where he continues to learn and grow as a horseman with a passion for thoroughbred breeding and training.

About Us

Sequel New York has been a top nursery for New York-bred success stories and home of New York's premier stallion roster for over ten years and through three incarnations.
Established in 2000 by Sequel Bloodstock partners Becky Thomas and Lewis Lakin, the 223-acre Hudson farm opened as Lakland North. Becky and Lewis, who owned nationally-ranked Kentucky sire City Zip, bred New York-bred national Champions Fleet Indian and Behaving Badly and Grade 1 winners Rightly So, Giant Ryan and Unbridled Command.
After a hiatus of two years and inspired by the alternative gaming revenue, Becky and co-owner Dennis Narlinger reopened an upgraded facility in 2011 as Sequel Stallions New York. Of the 5 Grade 1 stakes winners born at Sequel, three - Giant Ryan (Freud), Franny Freud (Freud), and Rightly So (Read the Footnotes) - were sired by Sequel stallions.
Becky and Team Sequel are proud to offer New York breeders this outstanding facility - already the home of 18 graded stakes winners/runners and are committed to serving their client's needs in every way.
